time lapse on the mac with the nikon family of cameras

i ran across a piece of software called sofortbild, which provides tethered shooting for the mac. apeture supports tethered shooting, as well, but i was poking around for a lightweight application for the mac that would allow me to do some time lapsed photography. on the windows side, i had a license for nikon’s camera control software, but i really didn’t want to spend another $100 on software for something that really should be free. turns out, it is! i did a little reading and it sounds like nikon released an SDK for the cameras awhile back and stefan hafeneger put this software together. i installed it tonight and did a little test with the d70 and it worked like a champ. very simple to use, supports the older body that i’m more likely to do the time lapse with, and best of all, it’s free!

i’ll likely play with it a little more this weekend and will post my results.
