move, eat, learn

I stumbled upon this series of videos today titled move, eat, learn that made me want to break out my passport. Here is the description:

3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ….into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films…..

= a trip of a lifetime.

Coincidentally, I was looking on old hard drives last night to see if I could find any of my images from my Japan trip back in 2004. Sadly, I think those images were lost to multiple computer changes over the years, but I am still grateful for the experiences. With all of my trips, whether to Japan, China, or Europe, I tried to get out of the tourist areas and meet local people and experience a bit of their culture. It’s amazing how much you can learn, and how willing people are to share, if you just put yourself out there and ask questions. In the end, it makes for a much more rewarding experience. Imagine how different this trip would have been for these guys if they had stayed within the bounds of the tourist areas…
